advice for newbie

Hi videoguys.

Ok, newbie here..
just built a new computer

abit Ai7 guru
478 3ghz prescott cpu
1 gig mem
250 gig sata drive
40 gig ide drive
120 gig ide drive
dvd rw
ati radeon 7000 64 graphics card.

I should, perhaps replace the graphics card.
when I do it will probably be an ATI Radeon 9550 256MB

what i need to do is.....
1/ copy vhs tapes to the computer. edit, then out to dvd
2/ copy from camcorder edit then out to dvd.

firstly...Is the computer ok for this
secondly...I think i need a capture card for the vhs side of things.
There are so many about with tv tuners. radios etc etc, Idon't know what to get.
Thats when I found you guys.

I don't need a tv tuner or radio, just a good quality capture card for under £70.
Any recomendations

thanks in advance videoguys

charles

check ouit our mid-range NLE shootout articlehttp://www.videoguys.com/Shootout2005.html.

Any of the 4 will work for you. I think I'd lean you toward Liquid Edition for this. You must get a better graphics card, and I'd bump up the memory as well.
