RAID 0 Question
on Aug 20, 2005 at 1:52:25 pm

On the ASUS P5AD2-E Premium mobo:

With 5 SATA 250GB hard drives:

Could I RAID 0 two drives for video, have 1 boot drive and have the remaining two on seperate drive letter assignments (which I would use for music storage)?

In doing a RAID 0, do the two drives show as 1 drive letter or 2?

Thanks!

Yes you can do what ever you want. I have 1 for OS , 2 in RAID 0 for media.

Somepeople get another for scratch and an addtional one for audio files or constantly reused clips.

Raid 0 will show as 1 letter in windows.

Right on. Guess I'll grab a 5th drive then. Thanks!

I hope you have a good/ huge power supply. & a fan for the hard drives.

Take the case door off and you'll probably heat the house from that computer.

Yeah! I've got an Enermax 600W for power with 3 80mm and a 120mm case fan. Have an Ultra Copper heatsink/fan for the CPU and 3 sets of dual 60mm Ultra hard drive coolers. I hope that covers it.

Besides, I keep the house at a steady 68 degrees.

Have you thought about a RAID 5 or RAID 10 arrangement?
