I am needing some suggestions on a good external capture device to convert some LaserDisk content on DVD. I have both FireWire and USB2 available to me.
I'd prefer to have control over the MPEG-2 encoding, rather then have the device do it for me automatically. I'd also like to be able to take advantage of the digital coax for audio. Using this for other sources is a plus (I have a few VHS tapes still sitting around too).
I'm willing to spend a little more for quality, but I'm not producing a commercial product here.
Any suggestions on which way to go would be greatly appreciated!!
I bought a commercial Sony laser disc player model LDP 1450 for about $25.00 on Ebay. You can download software to operate it, but it works fine without it. It works well with my Matrox RTX100. I'm having other non-related issues with a new graphics card I bought from Videoguys. But that's another story.
