Does xpress pro HD allow you to capure DVCPRO HD, or any HD format, with decklink 3rd party capture cards? If they don't, how do they expect you to capture the video?

You can actually capture these formats over firewire - both HDV and DV100. The other option is to bring in HD media that was captured on another system if it can't be captured through your Xpress system.

I know it can be done thru firewire, but you get higher quality through dual hd-sdi inputs.

It's a digital format, so there is no way to get varying degrees of quality, unless it is a different format, bit rate, compression scheme, etc.

Specifically what camera or deck are you trying to ingest from?

With DVCPRO HD, you can connect 2 hdsdi cables into the decklink card to have a sampling rate of 4:4:4, I highly doubt that firewire can transfer at the same rate. Also, 4:4:4 is better than 4:2:2. If you think it doesn't make a differnece w/ DVCPRO HD, then I will just do firewire. Also, I'm kind of thinking about the future with Panasonic's new DVCPRO HD camcorder.

Thanks,
Andrew
