Jumping ship Wintel platform to Mac - help with FCP choice?
on Jun 13, 2005 at 2:55:22 pm

Guys, I know this an age old debate between PC and MAC but I have a question since you guys used to sell Edit DV back when Digital Origin supported it.

I am currently using Edit DV 2.02 on a dual P3 1ghz platform with 768mb ram and about 400gigs of hard disks using win2k Pro. Right now my system has gotten squirly since I have it pretty well maxed out with IE6.0, 6 hard disks, 2 dvd burners, usb stuff, firewire, NIC etc.

I love the Edit DV 2.02 but with the lack of support for WinXP Pro I have been reluctant to upgrade (There is a version called Cinestream, but Its not that improved and less stable than Edit Dv2.02.

I am thinking about going to MAC G4 platform with OSX Tiger and FCP4.5HD. How hard would it be learn FCP from Edit DV. Is the NLE interface and workflow similar between the two?
Possibly this configuration.
