Chipset question - Intel 875 vs 865
on Jun 13, 2005 at 10:46:27 am

Hi,

I am interested in building a NLE machine based on the recommendations in the first diy article (DIY Chalenge I). However, where I live (South Asia), the Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard is not available.

Would there be any significant disadvantage to using the Asus P4P800-E deluxe board instead? This appears to have all the features required including on-board firewire. The only difference I see is that it uses the Intel 865 chipset instead of the 875.

I am presently editing on a Toshiba laptop (P4 1.8GHz, 512MB RAM), so anything should be an improvement

Thanks

basically the chipset on the p4c800-e that we used is faster and more current. you would be using older technology with that p4p motherboard. it should work fine for most products we sell though.

Thanks, Jon. I think I will go with the P4P800-E board. It should be more than sufficient for my needs.
