Best system for our use
on May 10, 2005 at 1:00:28 am

We are a company that would like to put together a CD for customers. CD because many businesses may not have a DVD at their business location. We currently use CorelDraw and Photoshop but would like to create a CD containing video, still pictures and drawings. Also have the ability to do voice over and moving arrows and other "stuff", as well as titles or comments. The CD is intended to be instructional, taking a difficult subject and making it much easier to understand. We may also add some animation. We have digital still cameras, but no digital video camera. It would be nice to have a package that will enable us to grow the application and have DVD as an option. We want to move toward doing more video applications. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi.

Although there may be many out there who will disagree and say that you don't need it to do what you want, I still think that Adobe Premiere Pro with the Matrox RT.X10 or 100 card is an awesome solution. It will do everything you need to do now and give you room to grow right up to HD video.

Premiere integrates with Photoshop. It allows you to compose sequences from stills, and supports import and export of most major formats. Plus with its integrated audio suite, and dvd authoring, it is an all-in-one package for a good price.

With the Matrox card you can do MPEG-2 encoding and the card will give you the benefit of additional effects that can only enhance your post production efforts.

Of course, this all really depends on your current workstation specs if this is just an add-on. If you also looking at a new editing workstation, getting one built around Premiere Pro and the Matrox card is something you should consider.
