Precision versus Dimension
on Apr 10, 2005 at 10:02:29 pm

I'll be picking up a Dell system and have been looking at the Dimension XPS Gen4 and the Precision 670. I'm fairly new to this game, is one better suited to video editing?

Thanks,

Mike

Look at Dell's Avid Certified systems.

Call Dell Sales and tell them you have a "Pre-Sales Tech Support Question"

They will shunt you to a tech who will explain the differences.

I used to work in Dell Tech Support. In short, you want the precision.

Go to the dell site and look at Avid Certified configurations. With an Avid Certified config, you will be safe running just about any professional post production software.

Here are two links ... one from DELL and one from Avid. Get a Dual Proc capable system, if you can afford it. The 370 will work for most apps and configs, tho. Get 2GB of DDR.
