We recently put together what we thought was going to be a great system, here are some of our problems.
We went for the latest so we got a PCI X slot. However when we installed our ATI dual DVI video card it was so wide that it made the nearest PCI slot unusable. Not just because of the fan inlet but there was a good posiblity of shorting between the pins on the back of the adjacent card.
When we tried to move our Storm 2 card from an older computer we found that it is incompatable with the chipset on the mother board. The board was chosen based on the capability to add a second CPU. Then we installed an APS pyro capture card and there went the only usable PCI slot, since the high end motherboard did not include sound capabilty, we now had to add an external USB sound card. It has lots of horns and whistles that we dont need.
Just some more things to look out for.
BTW Videoguys, The board comparisons on your Blog does not specificly mention video performance. Are all the comparisons also valid for editing applications?
