Build order for DIY systems
on Apr 2, 2005 at 5:04:37 am

This may seem like a unusual questions but, when constructing a system from scratch what order do you install cards, drives, etc?

Perhaps this is unnecessary but I usually install the MB, CPU, RAM, HD, & video card then boot, install system, then proceed from there to ethernet card, sound card, and etc. Does this make a difference? Would it make a difference to know I also have a sATA Raid I want to install?

Details: (love this part)
MB: Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
CPU: P4 3.2GHz
Ram: 2GB
video: Matrox Parhelia
sound: Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro
system Drive 160GB EIDE 7200
video drive sATA 80GB x2 raid 0
image & sound drive 80GB EIDE 7200

NLE: Matrox RTX-10 Pro

Any opinions? Any advice before I boot this puppy?

Many thanks for your attention.

I'd build the basic computer, leaving the X10 card out. Get all the drivers updated. Then install the X10 per Matrox's instructions.
