My church have a Hi8 camcorder, and lots of Hi8 cassete of various sermon and events.
They are planning to digitize it into VCD or DVD, with minimal edit, if any.
Currently they have a computer with Firewire & USB2 port.
With that in mind, which would be the way to go?
Buying Pinnacle Moviebox Deluxe Plus 9 so we can transfer the current Hi8?
or upgrade to new camcorder, Digital8 with firewire and buy a simple video editing software?
Is there any other advantage (that i dont see yet) of having a breakout box? other than transfering old S-video/RCA audio?
Between the two choices, I would probably lean toward going with Studio 9 with the breakout box. Not only will you be able to capture from the camera, but you will also be able to pull footage from other sources, such as VHS tapes (to remaster or restore them, for example). Studio 9 is also a decent software, and relatively easy to use. In addition, if at some point they decide to go into more advanced video editing software, the breakout should function with Liquid Edition 6.
