Parhelia and motherboard compatibility issue
on Feb 8, 2005 at 11:31:45 am

Hi everyone!
I recently bought a Matrox Parhelia graphics card and a new
motherboard (ABIT Ai7).

After starting my new configuration, the computer
started to act weirdly, rebooting without warning
and similar things.

I placed the Matrox Parhelia graphics card inside my previous
barebone case with a biostar motherboard with SiS
chipset. Then everything worked without any problems!

The problem now is, my PSU and my disk drives don't fit
inside the barebone chassi. So they are currenlty
placed outside, a solution I am not happy with.

MY QUESTION: Can anyone recommend a cheap motherboard
that has no compatibility problem with Parhelia?
I mean a good, standard motherboard that can be mounted
inside a ATX miditower.

I was about to buy an INTEL Rock Lake motherboard, but then
I noticed that the same chipset (865 something) is used in
this motherboard as in the problematic ABIT Ai7.

After spending a lot of money on the Parhelia card and a
dissappointing motherboard, I am reluctant to take a chance
and buy a new motherboard if I am not sure that it works with
the Parhelia.

Any suggestions as to a motherboard?

I hate to sound like a smart a__ but I would contact Matrox regarding this issue. They should have a list of compatible MOBO's availible. Also, Random reset issues can be lack of power or lack of cooling related. Best of luck.
