I am building an editing system. When it is done, I expect I will spend as much time plugging and unplugging stuff from the back as I will accessing the cd/dvd drives. (This may sound crazy.) Has anyone seen a case that has drive bay access in the back, or that points the mobo connections out the front?
Did you try looking into something like a "dashboard" which sends stuff like firewire, USB and audio outs through the front? Some of the DB's connect via the motherboard pins, others will actually plug into the USB/iLink slots and just forward them to the dash front.
Great advice! I looked around (Googled "dashboard usb firewire audio" and found lots of options. Some standalone remote boxes and some that fit in a 5.25 bay. Some also have media card readers. This is a great alternative for folks with PCs that don't already have front connections, or that would like to have them separate from the cpu box. Thanks!
