NLE System built for Matrox RTX100/Pinnacle DV500
on Mar 11, 2004 at 12:21:13 am

Okay, here's the NLE DIY system I built (a little over Jon's budget but worth it! Thanks Jon for the guidelines. See it live on cam at: http://www.videocrafter.com/webcam.html

Total Cost: $1,655.70
All parts were purchased at newegg.com
Total Shipping was was only $17.99

I'm totally blown away by this system. I built it to run Matrox RTX100 but since I don't have enough money left to purchase the Matrox at this time, I installed my old Pinnacle DV500 card with Adobe 6.0 and it is running flawlessly, not a single dropped frame after capturing over 100 GB thus far! This systems has yet to crash (knock on wood)! The main thing I learned, if your going to enable the "case open alarm function" close the case before trying to boot the system. I kept getting a "CPU fan failed" alarm. The CPU fas was in fact running, but I guess the MB just didn't have a message saying "close the case stupid" :-(

Wow! I built a system 6 months ago that is practically your system's twin. Different video card and case, otherwise virtually identical. (Your case may be cooler, though. I have a 420w Antec full tower). I, too, used newegg.com. Excellent site.

I have had the same reliability with mine. Rock solid.

RRLech, what video card did you install in your system. What NLE software/hardware do you use? P.S. Im sure your case is cool too! :-)

I installed a VGA ASUS V9520TD GeforceFX5200128M video card.

I also use Adobe Premiere 6.0 and a DV500.

I'm actually perfectly happy with my case.

The great thing about building your own system is that you know exactly what you're getting (assuming that you have done your homework).
