Dropping frames like a bad juggler..
on Feb 22, 2004 at 4:47:17 am

Just got a new Sony DCR-TRV22
PROBLEM: When I hook up to the Firewire port and transfer the video to the HDD it drops frames like MAD. I reformatted TOTALLY and still droped frames... Tossed in a Firewire card thought it was the soundcard firewire port acting up, guess what still dropped frames.. SO the computer went to the shop where I had them build it for me... They got NO IDEA. Here's whats in the magic box...

AMD 2.3gigahertz
1028 DDR RAM
128 DDR GForce 4 video
SoundBlaster Audigy with front panel inputs firewire front and rear
2 80 gig 7200 Maxtors runnin in RAID 0
All sitting on a Abit mommyboard KX7-333R

I don't think it's the RAID, so any ideas would help ! PLEASE !
The guys are gonna toss the RAID and see if that fixes the problem, and if that does I'll just toss in a 10k RPM HDD for video I guess...

They now updated all drivers in EVERYTHING and no luck. They also took out one drive and un RAIDED and still dropped frames.. Any other ideas?

I've heard that using a built-in RAID on AMD/Via motherboards might cause you to drop frames.
