Canopus DV Strom2 editing system

Can anyone tell me if this is a good system to build for a video editing system for a Canopus DV Strom2. I plan on adding a Sony DVD burner and the Strom 2 card I already have.

installing the upgrades for microsoft products OVER your existing OSis never a good thing. It NEVER works right, and you always end up formatting then installing the full version of the OS afterwards.

You can save money by buying the uspgage to XP, but don't plan on saving time by it. Install XP on a clean partition or drive.

First-the xp pro upgrade is the full xp pro-it asks for a copy (inserting the disk is fine) of any win 95 and up I believe and then does a complete install-over a fresh drive, as you mentioned.
Tiger is not that great on prices-new egg is better if you want to get it all in one place, but you might be able to save some money cherry picking the parts as they come on sale...checkout http://www.fatwallet.com-then forums-then hotdeals.
I saw xp pro upgrade at target this evening for $99.
