Best Methods for Video Archiving and Re-Editing
on Feb 4, 2005 at 12:16:33 pm

Here is my proccess for going from Mini DV to DVD, and my questions for Re-Editing.

I use Ulead MSP7 to capture Video from my CanonGL1 DigiCam.

I use Ulead MSP7 to edit, and render as DV type1 AVI.

I use TMPGEnc Plus 2.59.47.155 to convert to Highest quality MPEG2.

I use Ulead Movie Factory 3 to author each DVD twice for a backup.

Ultimately when I'm finished I intend to take bits and pieces from all the video I've put on DVD and create one compilation.

My questions are :

Should I be saving my MPEG2s for future editing?
Can I use the VOBs on each DVD for Editing without loss of quality?
Should I plan on recapturing to retain the highest quality?

Any advice on improving the proccess I'm using would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Jeff
