Im a little confused here, in the process of purchasing the advc300 canapous video converter, to transfer old video tapes to dvd.
Which firewall card would do the job for a dell dimension 8250 model. I have a ton of usb ports, but this job requires the better firewire cards. I want to hookup the vcr which has an available svhs out available in the rear of the machine, to the video converter, and then to the tower, which will place the video into my pc.
Ive read about firewire 1394a and 1394b which is faster the first in terms of data transfer. How many pins do i need for the converter hookup?? Do i need a faster data transfer to reach the converter, if its about 4 feet away from me in the same room as my computer>?? I have nero software, and do i really need further editing software?? The converter will spruce up my live concert tapes from yesteryear, as i prefer this method then a standalone recorder at the moment. I want to get these video tapes archived.
Will this route be sufficient in terms of saving video quality??
