Recommend a DV capture card that works in Linux?
on Feb 4, 2004 at 11:00:01 pm

Hello,

Can you all recommend a PCI DV adapter or a PCI capture card that will take a Firewire/1394 input that has good support in Linux?

Basically, my project is to build a cheap machine that does nothing but catprue DV footage to a hard drive and then spit it back out over a Firewire connection, or possibly ethernet.

Any advice? No sense in buying a board I can't get drivers for! And, in case it isn't already obvious, cheapness is goodness.

Linux isn't all that cutting edge when it comes to DV. I've used 1394 in Redhat with no problems but windows is a lot easier with more options.
