Well that bytes. New system is WinXP Pro SP2 with a Shuttle SB61G2 v3 (Intel 865G chipset) with an ATI 9600XT, P4 3.2E and 1G matched memory, using onboard audio. Two HDD, Raptor 74G boot and Samsung 120G data. Pioneer 16X DVD-RW.. all of this into a SFF (Small Form Factor cube)
Just installed Premiere 6.5 and wow, video cap is awesome, I can even do other work at the same time without dropping frames (just to test it) so that works fine.. unfortunately, audio sucks. Though the DV tape audio is crsytal clean, the captured video has a lot of crackles especially at the high noise levels (when someone is speaking or loud noises). This is quite annoying.
Apart from installing a dedicated sound card in this SFF box, am I missing something in the settings that can eleviate the problem? I've tried all the firewire ports, two different cables, have ascetained that the video on the DV is clean sounding, it's only when transfering the digital video to the computer that I have this problem.
