Output to TV
on Oct 18, 2004 at 3:07:09 pm

I am new to PC based video and I'd like to find out how others are playing back video to a normal TV via svideo or composite. I've got a couple of different ATI cards on different PC's and both have an S-video out. However, while I can play a DVD or video on the PC, trying to output the video to a TV via S-video doesn't seem to work at all. I get playback on the PC but a black (empty) frame on the TV. This happens with both ATI cards.

The PC output comes across OK even though it looks pretty crappy but no video. What screen resolution should I be using on the PC when trying to watch on a TV?

The DVD player is designed to prevent playback of video to an analog output, like a TV Out signal, of copy protected DVD's. Blame Hollywood. Unprotected ones should show up fine.

Standard NTSC DVD resolution is 720x480 pixels.
