fps? Do you mean refresh rate on your monitor? The actual frame rate in your avi?

Captain, I still don't follow. Will you be recording the video directly from the monitor?!? If you are outputting via an external TV you will get either PAL or NTSC signal refresh rate. But it sounds like you want to output from the PC signal, correct? I am not confident that I can help you here. I can set the refresh rate of the monitor via the display driver, but I do not know if the computer then changes the amount of information transmitted from a video app. Not even sure how you would test that.

Can anyone else help?

sorry not sure I can explain this any simpler. I am not asking anything to do with monitors.

Frames Per Second that my computer renders while exporting the video.

I capture the video then edit it then when It is exporting it.

I am wanting to know if there is anyway to actually know how many frames per second of video my computer is processing.

nothing to do with monitor refresh rates.

thanks for trying to help.

Oh, I get it. You want to know how many frames per second the computer is processing as it renders. I don't know the technical details, but it seems that this depends on the data in each frame. Only the software that is performing the render would know and I do not see that listed as an option in any of the software that I have here. Sorry for not comprehending at first. And worse yet for not being able to answer your question.

Of course, the way to get a rough estimate is to time the output and then divide it into the length of the video. For example, for a 60 second clip of NTSC DV that takes 90 seconds to output, it would be (60 x 29.97fps)/90= (approximately) 20fps.

Funny, I had typed that into my previous response but then erased it as it seemed WAY too obvious. I was certain you wanted a super technical response!

KDaves saves the day with a common sense response!
