analog capture card vs. DV camncorder pass thru
on Jan 14, 2004 at 2:42:13 pm

Does anyone have experience/knowledge of the quality issues of using a capture card - like say Canopus DV Storm - vs. using a quality DV camcorder to get analog footage into DV format on the HD?

I tested this with an old Hi-8 and a low-end DV Canon using firewire and it seemed to work fine for a small test file (5 minutes of video) No dropped frames - image looked OK.

Any Experience here would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jon

the video quality will be very good. Withthe Storm you can also do somew basic proc amp adjustments ont he incoming analog signal.

There is no reason to drop frame swith any of todays latest NLE gear.
