Dazzle 150 vs Pinnacle Studio Deluxe
on Feb 8, 2004 at 8:05:44 am

I have a brand-new HP pavilion a350n desktop (P4 2.8 Ghz w/Hyperthreading; 512 mb sdram; 160 GB harddrive. It has two 1394 FireWire ports, and four USB 2.0 ports).

I also have an 5yr old Panasonic PV-D308 VHS-C analog camcorder, and a few hundred hours of VHS-C tapes I want to convert to save to my hard drive(and edit, burn to DVD, etc).

I have no editing experience. I can get the Dazzle 150 for about $150, and the Pinnacle for about $199.

In addition to preserving/editing all of my family video, I hope to create some "nature-type" video documentarys as a hobby (and possibly a side-job).

Should I keep my VHS-C, and convert all future video to digital, or should I invest in a new digital camcorder?

Which video capture/editing package would you recommend?

I am frugal, but not at the expense of quality or efficiency.
