RAID - How Program, System, Etc...
on Feb 22, 2003 at 5:28:13 pm

Hey all, new to site, looks great for messaging. I've got a couple questions someone might be able to help me with. Told you're about the best around, so here goes.

I've got 2.4P4, XP Pro, 1gig memory, 1 20gig 100 ATA HD (Pagefile only), one 40 gig HD (at present - Windows XP, and Premeire 6.5), and 2 120gig HD's (RAID thru XP, on seperate IDE channels). My question is, should I have OS and Premiere on 120's, or should I have OS on 40gig, and Premiere on 120's? I know RAID 0 is much faster than single drive, but am confused as to where Premiere should sit. Also, I've got Scratch disk on 120's now (drive D). Appreciate any help given in advanced.

Hi there
You should put the operating system and all your programs (including premiere) on your 40 gig hard drive and save the other hard drives for video files. This should be the best optimized scenario for your computer. Good luck and happy editing. Feel free to ask if you have anymore questions!
