system setup

I'm wondering how would one set up/or connect a system, like two hard drives(one for system os and programs and the other for capture clips),CD Rom Burner and DVD burner, without compromising each other?
For example, do I leave the sractch disk on it's own ATA-133 connector and let the system disk and the burners share the same cable? I just want to know the ideal setup for a configuration like this that will not hamper editing.

It should work fine having one hard drive and one burner on each IDE channel.

Thank you John for replying me. I was just concern about the data rate flow. I'm getting a promise raid controller later but just have budget for this setup at the moment.

You don't need a RAID for DV editing and capture. DV is 3.6 MB/sec and just about any 7200 rpm ATA100 drive can sustain a minimum of 27 MB/sec.
