Ants Onboard, But No RAID?
on Nov 11, 2002 at 11:58:48 pm

Hi again, friends,

If I understand correctly from the articles I have been reading on this site, then it is not necessarily recommended to use a motherboard built-in RAID feature?

Please help me with this. I happen to be a big fan of MSI mobo's (even tomshardware.com especially likes this one model-- the MSI 645E-LRU and companions). I was thinking of getting one something along these lines if I so choose to upgrade. Anyway, I see that Videoguys like the Intel chipsets, but this has the new Sis chipsets, and they are claimed to be really amazing and wonderful performers. Any input about all of this??? Thanks so much again.

Hello Gerard.
I use an Abit mobo with onboard RAID and it works flawlessly for me.
I have two 80GB IBM drives in a RAID-0 (striping) configuration.
I never drop a frame and have good access times.

using a 1.6Ghz P4 w/512K cache
1GB RDRAM
40GB "C" drive w/Win2000Pro.
DV500Plus for capture and Premiere 6.5 to edit.

Loving it.
