Pinnacle Pro-One RTDV & WinXP
on Sep 10, 2003 at 11:25:04 pm

Hi ...

Since I placed the pro-one rtdv card on the mother board, Windows XP shutdown does not power off the machine.

I have tried to remove it and WinXP shutdown works well !!

Do you know some trick or tip ?

Thanks in advanced

Omar

We did have some issues with this. I'm not sure if Pinnacle ever got it completely resolved. Make sure you are running the very latest Pro-One RTDV drivers.

I had the same issue and it drove me crazy. The answer is:
Sometimes the Pro-ONE RTDV installation installs a driver in the Imaging Devices called Pro-ONE RTDV. You don't need this driver and this is the driver that prevents Windows XP from shutting down. Disable this driver and the problem is solved. There will be no adverse consequences because this driver does nothing. Do not bother to uninstall it because it will reinstall everytime you reboot.

To disable the driver follow these steps:
Control Panel
System
Hardware
Device Manager
Imaging Devices
Pro-One RTDV
Disable

I found a response on the Pinnacle Forum from Pinnacle Support that supported what I am saying. I'm not sure why it installs sometimes and not others. I have found if I do a clean install (new Windows) and follow this procedure, the driver does not appear:
Install Premiere
shut down
Install the Pro-ONE RTDV card
turn on computer
Windows XP will find the card and prompt for driver installation
Add the CD drive root directory to the location to look for for drivers
After installing the three drivers - reboot
Install the Pro-ONe RTDV software - IMPORTANT - When it installs the drivers check cancel on each one. You've already installed them and don't need to again. This is the point where it adds the unneeded driver
