I would like to put together an inexpensive PC for video playback. A beta SP deck is too expensive. All I need is to be able to score music with my sequencer (Cubase VST32) locked to picture and have a way to output the video signal to a standard TV monitor and dialoge tracks to control room monitors. My MIDI interface reads and generates the various standard SMPTE frame rates so the idea is to run SMPTE out of the video playback computer into my MIDI interface and viola! Frame accurate sync! Right? Seems simple enough but I've been looking at a few video cards and am not finding an economical solution. The Matrox RT2500 looked interesting, albeit more than I wanted to spend, but I see no way to send SMPTE out. Any help would be appreciated.
