120GB & 60GB HD IN RAID OR NOT
on Sep 29, 2002 at 10:37:23 am

I'm installing 2 Western Digital hard drives 120GB 7200 8M for video and 60GB 7200 2M for system. How should I install them on my motherboard? In Raid or split them separately in order for them to work in harmonny. I was told to get 2 120GB HD to work the best but I can't afford it. Please Help.

I'm not sure what you are asking.
It sounds like you already have the 2 120GB drives because your're "installing them..." but then at the end, you say you can't afford them...??
I use RAID-0 with two 80GB drives and got 153GB usable. I will be upgrading this Fall to two 120GB drives like you say you have.

It works VERY well for me. Capturing (never drop a frame), Premiere, After Effects, PhotoShop, Illustrator...... all work great on these drives. I can have two or more apps open with no problem..... 1GB of RDRAM helps with that. Audio editing (Sound Forge 6.0) at the same time is fine.

Maybe the original poster ment...he has two hard drives. One of them is 120GB and the other is 60GB.

If so, you should have two similar drives for a RAID-0 setup.

Keep your System & your Video Drive separate ...set system as master & Video drive as slave if you are using XP or 2k format NTFS
