I have a question concerning resolution. I have captured video (via s-video link) from a JVC HR-S5900U deck into an IBM A31p notebook using MGI Videowave 4 software. My goal is to wind up with crisp clear full screen video to play on the computer. The computer display is 15" UXGA (1600x1200). The capture device is listed in the MGI software as Philips phildecn Capture. The A31p has integrated S-Video IN and OUT, 64 meg ATI Mobility FireGL 7800 video. The standard selected is NTSC_M. I have tried all of the capture templates in the software and no matter what, the full screen playback is not as clear as just watching the picture on my 7 year old 36" mitsubishi TV. What should I look at to improve the resolution during capure and playback? Is there something fundamentally wrong with my hardware setup that will prevent me from getting clearer PC video? Is this a CODEC issue?
