Hard Drive

Western Digital now has a 120Gb 7200rpm drive with 8M cache instead of 2M. Does the cache size make a difference in video capture?

Cache size does help some, but you're looking at being able to cache only about 2 seconds of DV. The important drive spec numbers to examine are the sustained read/write rates to and from media. These numbers are a lot less than the interface rate. You'll find the differences between ATA66, ATA100, and ATA133 aren't significant for streaming video, because the interface is always waiting for transfer to and from the magnetic media.
