DVDs burnt for other countries
on Jan 31, 2004 at 10:54:14 am

I'm in Australia and I'm just getting started in DV. I have a friend in the USA who would like some DVDs. I have a Sony DV camcorder, PAL and we are region 4 for burners/DVD players. The US is region 1 and NTSC I believe. Is it possible for me to create DVD that can be viewed on US equipment? My burner is a Sony DRX-510UL and I'll be using Premiere 6.5 and After Effects 6.0.

thanks
Thes

You'll have to transcode the video to NTSC first and then build an NTSC formatted DVD. Canopus Procoder can do the conversion. Going through http://www.dvdrhelp.com, I also found this free conversion process StandardsConversion.

DVD+-R media does not have region codes, so the DVD will be playable in the US.
