HOw do I know if a DVDis damage
on Dec 22, 2003 at 4:02:55 am

Hello:

I have had a Sony DVD +-RW/+-R DRU-500AX burner for quite a while. And it had worked fine till now. It seems that once in a while it kind of damages Memorex DVD+RW DVDs. Unless they came faulty, which I really doubt.

Randomly, when I am burning a DVD of this brand using "Sonic DVDit!" I get an error message "Unknown Error message, DVDerr 143365" or "OSErr 226051". And Even though these DVD's are RW, I am not able to write on them any more.

Is there a way that I can find out if a DVD is faulty or damage ? A software I can run and test if the disk is ok ? Can I reformat them ? What SW can I use to do that ? I have been trying to delete the information that is in it using "RecordNow DX" but that SW enters an endless looop saying that the disk is not empty and it will erase everything again and again and never stops.

I will be very gratefull if you could help me, because I already have a whole box of DVD's that I can not longer use.

Lumaret
