Which DVD-R Media Brand is Best?
on Dec 30, 2002 at 5:48:09 pm

I have a Pioneer DVR-A05 and I need to buy some DVD-R media. So, I thought I'd pose the question on this message board - Is there a difference in DVD-R media, and if so which brand is best? I have the following brands to choose from: Pioneer, Fuji, Memorex, Maxell and Verbatim. Any thoughts and/or experiences would be welcome.

Thanks.

the cheapest one is the best if you don't mind with writing speed.

if you don't care about money, go with pioneer.

Read the DV.com review at http://www.dv.com/features/features_item.jhtml?LookupId=/xml/feature/2002/l...

On this test, Maxell rated the highest.

...........I've been using the TDK DVD-R for burning with my Panasonic DMR E30 and have had no problems so far. I have serviced two clients using this media and have not heard any playback problems from them. I have been told Pioneer is making plans to get out of the DVD-R/RW Recording Media manufacturing business soon. Their media is also excellent, but way expensive in my market(General Recording or Authoring).
