I'm just starting an editing project after not using much the system I got a little over a year ago, and I want to get a DVD writer both for creating finished DVDs and storing raw captured video data as files.
My system consists of a Canopus Storm card and Premiere 6.0. From what I've read, I need to be able to create MPEG-2 files from the AVIs, as well as DVD authoring software (and a DVD writer of course). What's the minimum I need to be able to do what I want? Can I get by without upgrading to Premiere 6.5? What software will I need besides what comes with the DVD drive? I won't be making super-fancy bells-and-whistles DVDs, so I don't think I need anything particularly high end.
usually capture card will capture avi and you need to encode it to mpeg 2 for DVD authoring. minimum price for encoder is ... zero dollar :)
you don't need premiere 6.5 for it. authoring software will go together with the DVD burner, so you don't need to buy extra.
