I just installed a pioneer dvr-ao3 dvd burner.
Installation no problem, software installation no porblem.
The thing worked for half an hour and the the computer crashed.
I work with windows xp, on a pentium III computer.
Now the computer still works perfect, but the dvd recorder, my cd rom recorder, and the cd rom player nomore.
In my computer the drive letter doesn't appear any more.
In the computer system, hardwire devices, the items appear with a yellow !
Checked all the cables, started over, removed all the cables except
for the cd roms.
Were you trying to burn a DVD when this happened? I had the same problem last fall testing a USB CD R/RW burner in Windows ME and later on in XP with an A03 as my master and a cd r/rw drive as a slave. Both happened when I was testing SpruceUp with the drive. I ended up having to re-install the OS because Windows needed a drive for the Windows disc when re-installing the hardware and I had no functional drive.
If you can, try a System Restore. If that does not work, you may be able to re-install the drives from the BIOS and/or by inserting your OS recovery disc and booting into DOS. I do not remember the procedures for either.
Incidently, although I have no real idea about what caused the problem, I seemed to have solved my it by updating my version of Nero and transferring my A03 to a fire wire case.
