Onboard Fireware vs. PCI
on Jan 29, 2003 at 9:21:55 pm

Hi all,

Currently building a home video editing system, I've just ordered an ASUS P4PE mainboard (with Intel P4 2.4B CPU) WITHOUT Fireware/Raid onboard, and an aditional video capture (only fireware dv-in) PCI card, Terratec - Cameo 600 which comes with UleadMediaStudioPro 6.0VE.

The order could still be cancelled...

I need your ultimate opinion: any comments to my choice, any pros and cons for one or another setup, onboard fireware vs. PCI card?

I was just afraid about possible lower transfer rates, higher CPU load, maybe a higher chance of loosing frames during transfer, some driver problems... in case of onboard fireware.

Waiting for you advices...
Thanks.
