Movie Display Quality
on Jan 25, 2003 at 10:12:55 pm

I'm capturing at 320x240 AVI from analog VHS tapes and producing to MPEG-1 on a VCD. The small picture on MediaPlayer, etc. looks good but when I put the VCD in the player and play it on a 27" Sony WEGA TV the quality is not very good. Is this expected and as good as it gets without being shot in a Digital Camcorder? What could I buy to make it better using what I have now? Thanks for the response!!

Your basic problem is VCD video doesn't have the bandwidth necessary to disply a high quality video. While an SVCD is better, most DVD players won't play an SVCD.

You need the video captured at 720x480, encoded into DVD format, and burned on a DVD to get the quality you want'.
