Bought a Dazzle DVC-150 USB video capture device largely on the basis of price and recommendations from Videoguys website. Had it about 2 weeks now and am getting ready to send it back for a full refund. My problem is that when recording Laserdisks (60 minutes per side) as composite input the MPEG files created are in audio-video synchronization at the start but by the end of the 60 minute capture are badly out of sync, maybe by as much as a second.
Moviestar 5, the Dazzle supplied software (stripped down version they box with the DVC-150 device) has no controls to affect the capture or correct the problem. The problem does not go away after production and recording using Dazzle's DVD Complete software, also included with the DVC-150. DVD's play back like poorly dubbed foreign movies with the audio getting progressively out of sync with the video as one watches the movie.
Dazzle products appear to be a total waste of time and energy and my conclusion is don't go there. Buy something else.
unfortuantely the transfer rate of the USB port can be an issue with very long captures. If you have USB2 this should not be a problem, but some older computers that only support USB 1 will run into this.
We recommend breaking the captures down inot smaller 15 or 30 minute chunks.
