My g/f is doing a film course in uni and right now she is doing a quick 1 month course in DV. She called me and said she wants a MAC and Final Cut Pro. I nearly dropped dead over $2K!? for that stuff.
I have a kick ass computer which would easily handel and DV editing and capture. But my question is:
Is Final Cut Pro so much better then any PC editing tool?
What alternatives are there software wise? I heard Final Cut pro is really easy to learn and use and i think thats why it is so popular. Is there really a point of getting a Mac JUST FOR Final Cut Pro and is it worth it for a student.
Avid Xpress DV - The other end of the price range. At $999.95 it's not cheap - but it is an Avid. Avid is used to edit something like 80% of TV shows and commercials. Avd is a professional editing tool that will have vlue on her resume. http://videoguys.com/vegasvideo.html
Pinnacle Edition - the newest kid on the the block. I love it. All the wiz bang features I crave at a reasonable price with very good editing tools. http://videoguys.com/edition.html
