3d Modelling software
on Jan 16, 2003 at 4:54:30 am

Hi there
I know this is a bit off topic from the forum, but I'm interested in getting into 3d animation and such and was wondering if anyone could reccomend a good 3d modelling program and a good 3d animation program that are easy to use/learn. Thanks for your time I really appreciate it!

Depends on the desired end result.

For creating animated 3D titles for video Uleads Cool3D Studio is an excellent value. It now boasts the ability to load 3DStudio MAX objects and has a ton of canned effects. It also has basic modeling features and an excellent keyframer for coordinating things. $119 USD for the download version and there is a free trial version.

For a full feature 3D package Caligari's trueSpace is an excellent value. You can purchase either the latest or previous versions with TS3 only costing $99 USD and TS4 costing $199 USD. It's interface is easy to learn, modeling is part of the program and it produces good results. It too offers free trial versions.

Perhaps gmax, by Discreet software, division of Autodesk, might fill the bill, also.
