archiving edited footage
on Jul 3, 2002 at 2:49:06 am

After editing thru Pinnacle studio 7 I burn my DVD-R thru Sonic MyDVD and get very good results. However, if I eventually would like to re-edit the movie at a later date, I cannot read the finished product back to Studio 7. It would read only AVI files. My question is : What's the best way to archive the edited film so I can re-edit it in the future. archiving in Avi would take too much space would not be able to archive more than 20 minutes of film on a DVD-R. Also I need to archive the edited footage with Studio outputs in Mpeg2. I tried to import the file into Premiere, but I got no automatic scene detection. Also I would like to use Studio 7 for later reediting. Is there maybe a possibility to use an interim software to convert the mpeg 2 files back to AVI, keeping the transitions, and reading it back into Studio 7?
Any advice would be very welcome.
