I am in the middle of building dual xeon hdv nle system. I bought the nVidia Quadro FX 540v because of the DIY2 article on its real time HD preview capabilities. The article states that there are plugins for Adobe Premiere and After Effects that will enable me to preview on an HD monitor in realtime, but does not elaborate further if this plugin can be downloaded from Adobe or if it will be included in the software inside the Quadro FX 540v Box. Where can I find this plugin?
As far as the nle system is concerened I will have this setup;
Asus NCT-D motherboard(E7525 chipset)
Dual 3.2 Xeon 64bit and HT capable cpus
Quadro FX 540v Graphics Card
1 Seagate 120gb system drive.
2 Maxtor 300gb 16mb buffer, NCQ capable, Capture and Render Drives
Samsung Server Ram DDR400, 2x512
OCZ Powerstream 460 watt power supply
Antec Plusview 1000 server case
Of course I had a $2,000 dollar budget on this build and the final cost was under $2,300.
I cant wait to see how this system will handle the upcoming HDV projects in queue. We will be using 3 Sony HVR Z1U cameras.
HDV project timelines can be previewed on external monitors using Adobe tested and supported graphic cards. These graphic cards must have the ability to support a second monitor and must have DirectX overlay support. Adobe has tested compatability of dual output graphic cards with component HD, S-video and composite outputs. Adobe has recommended the following NVIDIA Quadro FX Professional Graphic Board for use with Premiere Pro and HDV plug-in:
NVIDIA Quadro FX 540 by PNY Professional Video Edition (PCI Express, 128mb, dual head)
Settings for the external monitor setup are as follows:
NVIDIA Quadro FX 540 driver setup
1. In Windows Display Properties Click on the "Setings" Tab
2. Select the second monitor in the "Display" drop down menu
3. Be sure that the check box "Extend My Windows Desktop onto This Monitor" is CHECKED
4. Click on the "Advanced" button to view the NVIDIA Card
5. Click on the Tab with the NVIDIA Logo and the model name/number of the card.
6. In the side menu that pops out select "Full Screen Video"
7. In the "Full Screen Device" drop down menu, select "Auto-Select"
