Does anyone know if a large capacity hard drive is slower than a smaller capacity hard drive? Assuming all other specs are equal.

depends on the number of platters in the drive. We use RPM as our rule of thumb for hard drive throughput. 7200RPM is going to be fine for NLE. 5400 will work, but may run into issues with long format (over 1 hour) productions, or when filled past 50% capacity.
