Compatiblity between Premiere/Matrox and HDV
on Jan 31, 2005 at 4:42:07 pm

Hello,

The new HDV cameras from Sony (like the HVR-Z1U) are compatible with Matrox RTX10 and Premiere Pro 1.5?

Is it worth going all the way HDV instead of going for a DVX100?

Thanks!

The Matrox RTx10 & RTX100 are DV solutions only. The chips they use do not have support for the higher resolution of HDV.

Canopus Edius NX supports DV, and it can be upgraded to HDV (or purchased as a complete DV & HDV solution).

Is it time to get an HDV cam? That depends on your budget and your business. If you feel you can start collecting a premium by shooting in HDV, jump in. If you like to lead the charge into a new technology, noes the time to do it.

That said, we're still going to be shooting and editing DV for a couple more years. The HDV revolution has begun, but a change like this doesn;t happen overnight.
