on Jan 20, 2004 at 9:18:24 am

I will be purchasing my first digital camcorder in a week a 3cc I have a HI8 Sony now. What I want to do is take all my old VHS tapes and put them on DVD these there are a total of 60 tapes things like golf instructor & how to tapes there will be no editing involve for these tapes just a one time deal. After I purchase my camcorder I will just use firewire. What hardware & software should I get I would like to say around $1200.

Check out the Matrox RTX100 Extreme Pro Suite for $999.95
It includes Adobe Premeire Pro for editing and Encore DVD for authoring your DVDs. It's a very powerful solution that gives you real-time analog & Dv output as well as real-time MPEG2 encoding for DVD authoring. http://www.videoguys.com/rtx100.html

Another newbie question. My computer is a P4 2.0GHz system with 512 of rambus memory. It has a single 60 gig hard drive in it now. As I posted earlier I will be purchasing my first Digital camcorder next week. I have a Sony Hi8 now but nothing saved. The first thing I would like to do is to take all my VHS tapes and do a direct transfer to DVD no editing. After that with my new camcorder I will begin editing my video. My question is should I upgrade my computer to the newer 800 MHz bus systems with a 2.6GHz processor? My system now is only 400 MHz FSB? Should I go raid with the hard drive? Or is only hard drive needed editing?
