I've been reading alot of forums across the web about the Matrox RTx10 which comes with alot of negative feed back including http://www.matrox.com user's forum. It seems that many people are have a hard time getting this card to work. The most common complaint is the system locks up using this card. And Matrox help dept. doesn't seem to be that much of a help.

Here's the forum website.

Why is this card not so user friendly?

Is it worth buying?

Any feedback would be great.

thanks

The RTX10 xtra is a very good card and a great value. But just because it is a low cost affordable real-time solution, doesn't mean you can install it in a low budget computer. The RTX10 xtra utilizes the same Power of X technology as the RTX100. This technology DEMANDS CPU power and system throughput. Most often PCI bottlenecks in the motherboard chipset are the culprit.

We do not recommend VIA chipsets for these cards, while Athlons can be tweaked out to scream, most normal users do not have the skills or expertise to do this. For best & easiest results, go with a P4 on an Intel chipset.
