Real time encoding

In Videoguys' review of Pinnacle Edition 5 Pro when discussing "background rendering" you mention that the software can create a DVD from the timeline, but does not do real time or background MPEG2 for DVD encoding. You state that this process is more like 2:1.

My first question is does the`encoding process mentioned in the review and discussed above from the timeline yeild a disk image ready to be burned to a recordable DVD disk, or is there further processing required to actually compile the DVD image file?

Does any software/hardware combination for Win XP priced under $1500 or so do real time rendering and real time DVD image file creation?

The Matrox RT.X100 does the majority of video effects without rendering at all. They're rendered realtime as you playback the timeline.

It also does realtime transcoding for DVD authoring, which is why I replaced my RT2000 system.
