I recently filmed a production for archives (Completely on a WS), using a cheap consumer camera my boss gave me. There were several parts in the production where there was barely any light on the subjects. I increased the exposure by five f stops in these situations (if not more) to get some image as I was filming. When I reviewed the footage of the scenes that were too dark, the image was way out of focus. And when there is plenty of light (or even bright) enough it looks great. Is that a thing? Can a scene be to dark that when you expose it, it becomes out of focus? Any information would be most helpful.
